El proyecto de Búsqueda de Inteligencia Extraterrestre, SETI, por sus siglas en inglés, mejorará sus esfuerzos en su única tarea, la cual obviamente consiste no solo en buscar vida extraterrestre, sino también en buscar que esta sea inteligente. A partir de ahora, el SETI pondrá a la disposición de científicos de cualquier rama un portal en el cual compartir posibles evidencias de vida alienígena.
Este portal facilitará la búsqueda de vida alienígena, dada la mejor capacidad de comunicación entre distintos especialistas. No solo se contempla una vida extraterrestre como la de los humanos, sino cualquier tipo de evidencia que tenga posibilidades de no haber sido causada solo por la naturaleza. Esta podría darse de la forma menos pensada.
A pesar de todos los esfuerzos, no toda la comunidad científica apoya la búsqueda de vida inteligente, argumentándose que el hecho de establecer contacto con una civilización superior a la nuestra podría ser peligroso. Sigue habiendo bastantes dudas. Uno de estos escépticos es el famoso físico Stephen Hawking. Nosotros preferimos mantenernos neutrales en esta cuestión.
Los primeros proyectos SETI fueron ideados por la NASA, rastreando vida alienígena mediante la búsqueda de radiaciones electromagnéticas anómalas, con sede central en el radiotelescopio puertorriqueño de Arecibo. Hasta el día de hoy, solo una señal se perfila como candidata a ser de origen extraterrestre, la señal Wow!, aunque se cree que dicha señal fue originada por una nube de cometas que sobrevoló la Tierra cuando la señal fue detectada (ver http://andres96cmc.blogspot.com.es/2016/06/no-podremos-tener-contacto-con.html). Hace unos días unos astrónomos rusos también detectaron una extraña señal, pero se descarta que su origen sea extraterrestre (ver http://andres96cmc.blogspot.com.es/2016/08/extrana-senal-de-radio-95-anos-luz.html).
The project of Search of ExtraTerrestrial Life, SETI, will improve its efforts in its only task, which obviously not only does it consist in searching extraterrestrial life, but also intelligent life. From now on, SETI will have a site where the scientists from any branch can share the possible evidence of alien life.
This site will make easier the search of alien life, as it will improve the communication between different experts. It not only thinks of an alien life similar to the human one, but also takes into account that maybe there is alien life much more different than the human one. This could happen in the least expected way.
Nevertheless, not all the scientific community supports the search of alien life, stating that keeping in touch with a much more advanced civilization than ours can be specially dangerous. There are many doubts right now. One of the scientists who is against looking for alien life is the well-known physicist Stephen Hawking. We prefer to be neutral in this issue.
